Raising awareness of cooperatives and mutuals among the student community
The student community at HEC Montréal shares similar values with cooperatives: nearly 55% of this community is familiar with cooperatives, compared with 24% in Québec as a whole. Even so, few students are interested in cooperative enterprises as part of their studies. The IICADD organizes several activities throughout the year to raise awareness of cooperatives and mutuals among the student community.
Cooperation Week
An IICADD member and a youth entrepreneurship advisor from the Conseil québécois de la coopération et de la mutualité (CQCM) run a booth in October to promote the cooperative model and the IICADD to the HEC Montréal community.
Cooperative Succession Week
An IICADD member and a youth entrepreneurship advisor from the CQCM run a booth in February to promote the cooperative model and the IICADD to the HEC Montréal community. A representative from a cooperative is invited to present their cooperative and talk about their experience as a founder.
Social Innovation Week
Activities are organized with the IDEOS Social Impact Hub based on the chosen theme.
Reading group on philosophy and ethics in economics
Reading group on philosophy and ethics in economics with the Centre de recherche en éthique (CRÉ) at the Université de Montréal.
Networking for careers with a social impact
An event organized in tandem with IDEOS Hub, CSMO-ESAC, CÉSIM, CQCM, and HEC Montréal’s Sustainable Transition Office brings together managers of social economy organizations, including cooperatives, and the student community, to offer mandates, internships, and jobs to interested students.
